State Convention
(06/13/2011)The Lawrenceville FFA Officer Team will take eight (8) members to leave on the morning of Tuesday, June 14th at 8AM from Lawrenceville High School to attend the 83rd Illinois Association FFA Convention in Springfield, Illinois. They will compete in the Illinois Association FFA Scrapbook contest and help elect next year's state officers. Also, two Lawrenceville FFA Officers will recieve awards for the hard work within the FFA. The Officer Team will return on Thursday, June 16th sometime during the afternoon. The cost to attend conventon was set at $50 this year and attending officers will need to bring whatever spending money they need. This includes meals & recreation. Chapter Banquet
(05/06/2011)The annual Lawrenceville FFA Chapter Banquet has been postponed to Tuesday, May 24th, due to recent flooding events. All members should attend and plan to bring a side dish or dessert. The sign up sheet is on the "News & Results" board in Mr. Green's room. Events at the banquet include: degree and award recipients, a slideshow of the past year's events, a guest speaker, and of course, a large banquet provided by FFA members and IGA. The banquet is scheduled to begin a 6:00 P.M. in the LHS W. Gym. Bring your family & friends!

April 26th Chapter Meeting
(04/26/2011)The Lawrenceville FFA Chapter will host a meeting tonight at 6:30 P.M. in the ag. room. Officer Elections for the 2011-2012 school year will occur at this meeting. We have ten candidates running for office and our chapter constitution states that we need a minimum of 50% of our membership present to cast their vote. That is 26 members, so PLEASE ATTEND! Pizza will be provided!

Lawrenceville FFA Assists at Farm Bureau Meeting
(03/07/2011)Recently, the Lawrenceville FFA senior officers helped out at the Lawrence County Farm Bureau meeting. The meeting was held on February 22 at Central Christian Church. The officers helped prepare the meal for the meeting and set up the dessert table for attending Farm Bureau members. The officers prepared beverages to go along with the meal and served them as well. The Lawrenceville FFA Chapter attempts to outreach to the community as much as possible, and the Lawrence County Farm Bureau was very kind in offering the LHS FFA the opportunity to help out at their annual meeting.

January 31st Chapter Meeting
(01/31/2011)There will be a chapter meeting tonight, January 31st, at 6:30 P.M. in the Ag. Room. The previously postponed White Elephant Christmas Party will be held tonight, so don't forget your gag gift. Past Lawrenceville FFA Chapter President, Aubrey Seed, will be a guest speaker and pizza will be provided.

What is a SAE? Why should you have one?
(01/12/2011)SAE= Supervised Agriculture Experience
Every FFA member needs to develop their agriculture-minded skills. By participating in a SAE, it will give the FFA member experience in an agricultural project. Being involved in this type of activity will allow the FFA member to gain skills by having responsibilities and also to develop their decision-making skills.
Proficiency Awards are given to FFA members who have outstanding SAE programs. Members keep record books to show their financial gains or losses, the activities they have participated in, and the time they have spent in their program.
If you think that FFA does not have something for you to offer, think again, because there are 51 proficiency areas. They are divided into four areas: Placement, Entreprenuer, Research & Experimentation, and Exploratory. Placement areas are when the student is placed in a working position, whether it be a job or internship, for another person. Entreprenuer is when the student has developed business situation, usually small, that they are entirely responsible for. Research & Experimentation is when the student plans and conducts a scientific experiment. Exploratory is when the student explores careers in agriculture.
Being involved in a SAE can open a lot of doors to you as a FFA member. Being able to be mangerial and financially responsible is the key to earning you State Degree and your American Degree. You can earn a lot of scholarships through the FFA by being involved in a SAE.
Upcoming Events
(01/10/2011)Attention FFA members: Deadlines for SAE Books, State Degree Applications, and speeches are quickly approaching!
Upcoming sessions for FFA members to work on their SAE books are set for January 11, 12, 17, 24. These sessions will be held in the Mr. Green's room. Please check the calendar for times for the appropriate dates. The deadline for the SAE books is January 27.
State Degree Applications are also due on January 27. The application is rather lengthy, so do not procrastinate. See Mr. Green or Alex Mahrenholz if you have any questions regarding this announcement.
December 13th Chapter Meeting Postponed

National Convention
(10/19/2010)The Lawrenceville FFA will attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN Wednesday and Thursday. Fifteen attendees will depart for Indiana's capital at 7AM, Wednesday morning. Calendar Changes!
(10/12/2010)The FFA Calendar for 2010-2011 has been slightly changed. The following additions/revisions include:
- Agronomy CDE Practice for Tuesday, 10/12, after school has been postponed to Thursday, 10/14, after school in the Ag. Room. All participants in the Agronomy CDE must attend!
- There will be an Officer Meeting on Thursday, 10/14, during the Activity Period in Mr. Green's room. ALL OFFICERS MUST ATTEND!
- The Computers CDE has been postponed. It will no longer take place on Thursday, 10/14. The reschduled date will be released as soon as possible.

Homecoming Parade
(09/27/2010)The annual Lawrenceville High School Homecoming Parade took place on September 24 at 3:30P.M. Lawrenceville FFA's chapter slogan for the event was, "Lions, It's What's for Dinner." Several FFA members rode on the float during the parade, tossing candy and supporting the football team. The FFA would like to thank Sheila and Jeff Beard, Susan Kocher, Mr. Green and Rucker's Candy for extensively supporting our FFA chapter's homecoming parade endeavor.

-There will be a chapter meeting on Monday (9/13) in the auditorium. ALL members should attend!
- Horse Judging Practice and Forestry Practice will be held on Tuesday (9/14) after school in Mr. Green's room until 4PM.
-There will be a brief Homecoming Committee meeting on Tuesday (9/14) after school in Mr. Green's room.
-Leadership Training School (LTS) will be held on Thursday (9/16) in Noble at 5:30PM. The cost to attend is $5. You must let Mr. Green or Alex Mahrenholz know by Tuesday (9/14) if you would like to attend. We will leave the school at 4:45PM.

Section 23 Banquet
(04/19/2010)The Section 23 FFA Banquet will be held on May 13th. There will be food provided and this is when Alex Mahrenholz will present her Secton Officer campaign. The cost to attend is $8. April Chapter Meeting/Officer Elections
(04/05/2010)The April Chapter Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 14th at 6pm. Officer Elections will be held at this time. Over 50% of our membership must be present at the time of voting. That means over 25 members must attend or elections will not occur. Pizza will be provided, just please attend! A 60-second segement and a 30-second segment were recorded about National FFA week and will be aired from February 20th-February 26th. Tune in and listen for your officer team telling the WAKO listenting area about all the advantages of FFA and help keep the spirit alive by participating this upcoming week.

FFA Parade Float
(09/22/2009)The FFA is entering a float in the Lawrenceville Homecoming Parade on Friday. If you would like to ride on the float, please sign up in the ag room or contact Alex Mahrenholz, Mackenzie Hill or Jake Benson by Thursday the 24th. If you choose to ride on the float, you must bring at least one bag of candy to throw to the crowd. Turn in your candy to Mr. Green in his room, Alex Mahrenholz, Jake Benson or Mackenzie Hill.

Officer Forms
(04/02/2009)All interested members who want to become leaders of the FFA have to have all forms turned in by April 3rd 2009. So far we have 7 forms turned in from interested students.
Fundraiser for the Spring
(04/02/2009)The FFA will be selling Flower Bulbs and some Flower sprigs and kits for the Spring. The ending date is set for the 14th of April and the flowers should be in Around the 30th of April.
Lawrenceville FFA take 5th at Quiz Bowl
(02/20/2009)The Lawrenceville FFA tied for 5th place at the Flora Section 23 Quiz Bowl. Zach Crossen was high man with 12 place finish, followed by Eric McClure 17th, and Aubrey Seed 29th. Great Job!!!!

Computers CDE
(10/20/2008)The FFA competed in a computers competition for Section 23. They placed 5th overall with Alex Mahrenholz taking top honors with a 12th place finish. The competition tested them on their knowledge of Power point, Excel, and Word Programs along with a comprehensive knowledge of computers.
Land Use CDE
(10/20/2008)The Land Use CDE took place at Olney during the day. The group placed 12th overall.

Lawrenceville FFA Places 4th at Section 23 Horse Judging Contest
(09/16/2008)The Lawrenceville FFA placed 4th at the Section 23 Horse Judging Contest. The team consisted of Jaeleigh Decker, Katie Sapp, Kelsey Roberts, Jenna Gowen, and Kaylynne Frye. Decker took top honors with an 11th place out of 117 participants.
